Tenure vs. Competence: Stop Buying Paper Certificates

"Years of experience" is the most expensive vanity metric in NetSuite consulting.

Time doesn't yield competence. It merely solidifies bad habits. The industry equates time served and theoretical exam passing with actual technical authority, which is a massive logical fallacy.

The Agency Reality

Early in my career, with barely 5 months of tenure, I was pulled aside by a "Senior" consultant. She asked me to teach integration architecture to 50% of our agency's development team. A custom two-way integration requirement had landed, and the "senior" team was completely paralyzed.

They had the "10+ years of experience" badges, but they didn't know how to execute outside the standard NetSuite manual. While they hunted for video courses, I read Oracle’s raw API documentation. I bypassed the UI, built the end-to-end OAuth and Token-Based Authentication integration, handled the payload encryption, and established the secure handshake from scratch.

Since then, I've built 7+ full-scale integrations and 20+ complex architectural bypasses.

If a developer needs a decade of tenure just to figure out how to build a custom API handshake, they aren't a senior architect. They are just slow.

Stop paying for a developer's learning curve.

Pay for their leverage.
